The Lucy Cavendish Prize

So some exciting and good news to share with you all!

As some of you may know, I've spent the last three years taking trips to Paris and generally banging on about women who lived in 1920s Paris and how influential Gertrude Stein is, and quoting Stein, and making people watch films about Stein... All the in the service of writing a novel called The Red Deeps.

Which, unsurprisingly, features Gertrude Stein.

Anyway! Today it's been announced that The Red Deeps has been long listed for the Lucy Cavendish Prize. The prize had an unprecedented number of entries (484) and I am so proud to have made it to the penultimate 23 - alongside some utterly awesome women writers.

That might be as far as this news goes - the novel needs another redraft after all. But even if it doesn't make the shortlist I am really pleased to have got this far, and to have written something that is seen as good enough to long list.

Find out more about the prize here.
